Career

I lived and studied in Lisbon, Portugal, through my Master's degree, and moved to Paris, France, to start a PhD at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. I completed it in 2005, with a thesis entitled: Nouvelles d'Ancien Régime. La Gazeta de Lisboa et l'information manuscrite au Portugal (1715-1760).
I was a Lecturer at the University of Lille 3 between 2003-2006, where I organized an international conference on the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. In 2006 I became an Associate Professor at the University of Rennes 2, where I teach History and Literature in the field of Portuguese Studies.

My publications include a reader in Book and Reading History (Belo Horizonte, 2002), the scholarly edition of two Portuguese 18th and 19th century bibliographical dictionaries and a number of essays in the history of news and information in 18th century Portugal.
